2020 Kleinlerer Pinot Noir
Starscape Vineyard Forestville, Russian River Valley
Sonoma County, California
OK, fellow wine nerd. This wine is a blend of two clones: Pommard and Dijon 828. The Pommard clone, brought into the United States from France, is expressive in its aromatics, redolent of wild strawberry, bing cherry and sandalwood. The Dijon 828 adds tannic structure and notes of blackberry and red plum. When you taste the wine, you can actually feel the effects of both clones. Cool, huh?
Like it’s sibling, the Skin Contact Chenin Blanc, the Pinot Noir is made by hand using native yeast, and aged in neutral oak barrels. It is unfined, unfiltered, and produced with minimal sulfur. It’s natural on paper and bright and luscious on your palate.
